In 1909 the Rioboó brothers commissioned Rodolfo Ucha to extend the guesthouse they owned in Calle Dolores. This building work, together with the Suízo and Ideal Room hotels, makes up the architect’s portfolio in terms of hotel establishments. In 1927, Ucha was commissioned to add a third floor for accommodation; and 70 years later, in 1994, the building was completely refurbished and reopened under the name of Hotel Suízo.
The main features of the inn are the tower that seems to be independent from the rest of the wall, and a semi-basement, which was built to take advantage of the difference in height between the façades opening onto calles Dolores and Sánchez Barcaíztegui. The symmetry and the crowning cornice overhung on grooved corbels is based on the French Beaux Arts style.
