This hotel establishment, built between 1916 and 1917 occupies a large site on the corner of Calle Real and Calle de Tierra, next to the Plaza de Armas, which at the beginning of the 20th century was a grove of trees.

In its time, the Hotel Ideal Room became Ferrols main hotel, with a hundred of bedrooms, large dining rooms and a luxury restaurant on the ground floor, and remained in use for decades.

Within the modernist style of Ferrol, this building dates from the end of the Art Nouveau period and at the beginning of the new eclecticism. However, the successive reforms it underwent until the complete refurbishment in 1992, resulted in the loss of important motifs. Taking a look at the original photographs, you can see the disappearance of the roofs finishing off the corners of the building, the interior dividing arcades and the cement tile with star motifs in the restaurant area.

Even so, the building retains the general structure of the façade. On a decorative level, the most important element is on the corner of the building, a garland and mouldings with geometric motifs, as well as the two access doors to the house, with modernist ornaments and forms that are reminiscent of art decó.
